Connect Apple Ads to GitHub Copilot
You can connect Apple Ads (formerly Apple Search Ads) to GitHub Copilot by adding AdPilot MCP as a remote MCP server in VS Code. Copilot's agent mode can then review campaigns, find wasted spend, compare Apple spend with RevenueCat proceeds, and make the bid or keyword changes you ask for, within your workspace limits.

What you need before you start
- An AdPilot workspace with at least one app imported.
- Apple Ads connected on Connections. If you have not set up API access yet, start with Set up an Apple Ads account and API user and then Connect Apple Ads to AdPilot MCP.
- VS Code with GitHub Copilot Chat signed in. Tool calling requires Copilot's Agent mode.
- Optional: RevenueCat connected, so Copilot can answer profitability questions as well as spend questions.
Copilot never receives your Apple Ads private key. AdPilot keeps the Apple credentials and Copilot gets an OAuth token scoped to your workspace.
Step 1: copy your AdPilot MCP URL
Open Home or MCP Clients in AdPilot and copy the MCP URL. Every authorized client uses the same endpoint, and access is granted per client through OAuth.
Step 2: add AdPilot as an MCP server in VS Code
Open the Command Palette and run MCP: Add Server, choose HTTP, paste the AdPilot MCP URL, and name the server adpilot.
You can also edit the configuration yourself. Run MCP: Open User Configuration to make AdPilot available in every project, or create .vscode/mcp.json for one project:
{
"servers": {
"adpilot": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://adpilotmcp.com/mcp"
}
}
}
Replace the URL with the one shown in your workspace. VS Code uses a servers key; configuration copied from other clients that use mcpServers will not load.
Step 3: approve OAuth in the browser
The first time Copilot starts the server, VS Code opens AdPilot's authorization page. Sign in, review the request, and approve it. The client then appears on MCP Clients, where you can revoke it at any time.
If no browser window opens, run MCP: List Servers, select adpilot, and start it again. The Output panel's MCP channel shows connection errors.
Step 4: ask Copilot about your Apple Ads account
Switch Copilot Chat to Agent mode, confirm the AdPilot tools are enabled in the tools picker, and start with a read-only request:
- List my apps, Apple Ads connection status, and the latest complete metrics date. Do not make changes.
- Review all Apple Ads campaigns for [App Name] for the last 30 complete days.
- Find search terms that spent money without installs this month and summarize them.
- Compare Apple Ads spend with RevenueCat proceeds for [App Name] over the last 28 complete days.
When you are comfortable with the data, ask for a change, such as adding exact-match negatives or reducing a bid. AdPilot checks the change against your limits, applies it, and returns an action ID you can inspect or roll back from Changes.
Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio
This guide covers GitHub Copilot in VS Code. Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio register MCP connectors differently and are not supported AdPilot clients today. If you use Microsoft Copilot at work, any client listed in Connect your AI client, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Cursor, works with the same workspace.
Troubleshooting checklist
- AdPilot tools do not appear: confirm Copilot Chat is in Agent mode and the
adpilottools are checked in the tools picker. - The server does not start: check that the configuration uses
servers,"type": "http", and the exact URL from your workspace, then reload the window. - Authorization keeps failing: revoke the stale client on MCP Clients, remove the server in VS Code, and add it again.
- Copilot answers without account data: ask it to call the AdPilot tools explicitly, for example Use AdPilot to list my apps.
- An operation is blocked: read the limit named in the response. See Direct operations, limits, and audit before raising any limit.
How AdPilot works with Copilot
Copilot is the conversation and reasoning layer. AdPilot holds the synced Apple Ads structure and metrics, your app strategy, RevenueCat context, workspace limits, and audit history. Every tool call is authorized through the OAuth client you approved, validated server-side, and recorded with that client, so changes made from Copilot appear in Changes next to changes made from any other assistant.
